Long press the app, drag it like you are going to place it on the home screen but instead drag to top of screen of app info. Once new pages opens, Click disable.

Or

You can go through your settings and go into application manager, swipe over to all tab, scroll down and find the app, click on it, and click disable.

I just had to reformat my phone. I had disabled My Mag before, now I can't disable it, because it is not giving me the option. What the hell do I do now?

Could always use a different launcher, then there should be no My Magazine, there are several really good ones out there.

When you long press a blank spot on a screen, you don't get home screen settings option? That's where I can toggle off the my magazine. It's the same way you add widgets and change the home screen

Same issue. Disable shows, but not highlighted.
