How do I rename a shortcut on my Android tablet?

I know how to do it on my computer, but I don't have a right click on my keyboard.

What do you mean by "shortcut"? If you are talking app the app icon as put on the homepage of your Launcher, as far as I know, there aren't any" built in" launchers that allow this. However, "outside" launchers such as Nova Launcher allow it....
