How do I restore haptic feedback?

My Galaxy Ace 2 (running Android 4.0.4) suddenly stopped giving haptic feedback. Vibration still works for other uses e.g. alerts, lock screen, but it no longer vibrates when holding down middle button, setting time in S Planner, etc. Can't find any reference to it in Settings - can set vibration pattern under Sound, enable sound and vibration, enable vibration on screen tap for the lock screen, but nothing about haptic feedback. Don't recall if it existed before, I never messed with it, and assumed I'd inadvertently turned it off fumbling phone around, but can't find a thing. Ideas?
