How do i retrieve voice messages?

That depends on your carrier. Some are disabling the dial-in service for this and going with strictly visual voicemail. I am not sure if the transition deletes the saved messages. Can you share with us what carrier you have? Someone with that carrier could share how it works or we can help you find the support page for the carrier's voicemail system.
