How do I return to the original Google search on galaxy S7?

When the home bottom is pressed and held, a regular google search bar would come up. Now, the Google assistant comes on and there is no ability to type the question. How do I get it to return to the search bar?

Just use the G search widget on the home screen, it still supports typing until Assistant gets that upgrade (soon).

ATM you can get Google Now back by changing the language to English U.S. Virgin Islands.

Another option is in Google Assistant, say "open Google", which will bring up the google search bar and Google now cards. An extra step, but it works.
