Someone has to figure out an exploit first. (The phone has to be temporarily rooted in order to permanently root it. Figuring out where there's a bug that can be exploited to temporarily root it can take months. And it's likely to be patched in the very next update. Rooting is an arms race - we root and the manufacturer closes the exploit, then we look for another exploit, etc., etc.)

Keep checking on the Xperia forums on XDA Forums - that's where the people who figure out the exploits post the rooting method first, in most cases.
