Re: how do i save my google play music to sd card

Welcome to Android Central! You can't. The music that is downloaded directly from the Play Music apps stored in an obscure directory, with coded filenames. Downloading music from the Play Music app is really only intended for offline listening, not for file transferring or manipulation. On some devices, there is a setting in Google Play Music that allows you to temporarily download music directly to the SD card, but if you don't see that setting, then it's not possible on your device.

The next best thing is to download the music from your Google Play Music library website on your computer, then transfer those mp3 files to the phone's SD card. I recommend creating the usual folder hierarcy of Artist>Album>Song.

Re: how do i save my google play music to sd card

I am a new Android user (LG G4) who switched from 10 years of being on iPhones. I was able to successfully upload my music to Google Play and was trying to then download it to my phone to sync. I'm plugged into the wall and on WiFi but I don't think my music is being saved to the cache, even though I have "Automatically Cache" on (I toggle the Download only tab every 10 mins to see if anything was added but it seems that only played music will cache and under Manage Downloads I don't see anything). Here's my actual question: What should I do to get music locally stored on my SD card (I fly/travel a lot so streaming is not for me)? Should I dump my iTunes folder on my SD card and use a music player that can view that? If I use Google's app can I add that folder instead or will it show duplicates of files that are already online? Will it find that folder? Do I need to properly name the folder on the SD card? Again, ideally, the problem above would be solved and I could sync my phone folders to the online system. The irony of owning a lot of music and not being able to enjoy it...
