How do I see full notifications on AOD clock lock screen on S9+?

After nine years with an iPhone, I jumped ship and joined the Galaxy line-up with the S9+. Still learning many of the features, but I'm curious if I can have the face light up and show me a preview of my full notification on the AOD lock screen with the clock/date. Right now it just shows me an icon of the app that has the notification, then when I click the home button, it shows me the full preview. This extra step is a bit annoying. I feel like I've tried every notification setting on the phone, turning off AOD (but then it just vibrates, it doesn't actually light up to show the notification), and I can't figure it out. Maybe it just doesn't exist? Thanks for the help!

You can, but not on AOD, just on the lockscreen. AOD is not meant for full previews, unfortunately, just at-a-glance notifications. The lockscreen will have extended information. Some apps support pop-up display of a notification and waking up the screen when they do so, but that's a per-app setting.

Yeah. I wish it was more like the notifications on the Moto Z where they show an icon you click on the icon and can preview the notification and either mark read or go to the app

Thanks, @SpookDroid. Pity, just seems like an unnecessary extra step, but I'm glad to know I'm not missing anything; just doesn't exist. Thanks for the help!

Thanks, SpookDroid, I was wondering this too. I had a Pixel, and even with AOD set, it would still give previews of the messages. That's the one thing I miss the most!

I was thinking it wasn't showing the previews because I wasn't using the native messaging and email apps. Or that I had a setting wrong, but I have gone through the settings thoroughly.
