How do I set up a custom email ringtone for certain contacts?

I am able to set custom ringtone for certain contacts for texts and phone calls. I cannot figure out how to set custom ringtones for certain contacts when I receive emails? Hoping someone can help out.

Samsung phone?

It seems Samsung removed this option from the Contacts and Messages apps released with Oreo on the S8 and S9 series of devices. You can use Google's Messages app or any of the many other texting apps and set notifications on a thread-by-thread basis. There are numerous threads on our forums about this topic.

I just spent 3 days working on this for my GOOGLE PIXEL 3. Have one contact that I need immediate notification of a new email.
All answers took me through the settings process, very complicated and varied with particular phones.
Turns out all I had to do was go into contacts, choose the one in question, open the 3 dot icon in the corner, and choose "set ringtone", choose and save. All email from this contact are now set to a unique sound. Life is good.
