How do I set up Gtalk to do this...

I'm a new Android user from BB and I'm having trouble setting up the phone to do what I "think" I want it to do. I have two Google accounts. One is my main account that all my friends have, and then several of my friends have gchat. However, I don't like to be visible all the time because I don't like people sending me chats at work or knowing when I'm logging on at 4 AM, etc. 95% of the time I am invisible. My girlfriend has a blackberry. So since we can no longer use BBM, I got around this by creating a brand new Gmail account that I would only use for gtalk. I set up gchat and added just her and a couple other people, and set my status to "Always On." That way just those people will have the address and be able to chat with me and use it the same was as BBM.

However, I cannot figure out how to add this account to my gtalk on my DroidX. I have added this account to my phone from the settings, but how do I add it to Gtalk? When I go into gtalk, it defaults straight to my main gmail account, and I don't see a way to switch it to another gtalk account.

Lastly, I'm wondering if this is even necessary at all. I just noticed there is some kind of "mobile indicator" for gtalk, but I can't find anything about it by doing a search or how it works. Basically, I just want to make sure that my girlfriend can send me gtalk messages whenever she wants, without my having to set my status to "always on" in my main account, so other people won't think I'm on gmail all day long. Wow, I just read that thread. I can't believe there is no way to change the default gtalk account or add a second account,.
