How do I silence the outgoing text sound in Messenger?

It has only been happening since upgrading to Oreo. The silence outgoing message tone slider in settings is off.

Ok, so in the Android Messages settings, you're saying that "Hear outgoing message sounds" is turned off, correct?

The 2 XL should be on Pie now. Have you updated it? Or did you mistakenly mention Oreo before, when in fact the phone is on Pie now?

Hmm, strange issue. I've been seeing threads about not getting notification tones on Pixels on Pie, rather than wanting to turn tones off but still getting them.

If you don't have any message threads you want to keep, try going to Settings>Apps, selecting Messages, then Storage, then Clear Cache/Data.

It probably won't do much, but at least try clearing the app cache for Messages. That won't affect your saved threads.
