how do I stop Marshmallow upgrade

[AC Question]

My Moto G 2nd Generation, Android ver 5.02, keeps trying to upgrade to Marshmallow. This upgrade killed my last Moto G and I had to get it replaced. How do I stop Marshmallow upgrade until the bugs get worked out?

Just rooting the phone will prevent updates. You'll still get nagged, but any update will fail. (It's not really the update that fails, it's the "is this ROM an original" check that fails.)
