How do I stop my phone from changing my home screen wallpaper when I change my lockscreen wallpaper?

When I try to set my lockscreen wallpaper (gallery>>picture>>set as lock screen) when using a theme my home screen wallpaper also changes to the one I set for my lock screen. Is there any way to stop this from happening?

Phone = sony experia XA
Android version = 7.0

Yes, stop using a theme which resets all the screens.

Up to Android 6.x, and probably still in 7.x, there is no standardized way to update the lock screen wallpaper while updating the home screen wallpaper has always been standardized.

Unfortunately, the two wallpapers are normally linked; and it sounds like the app controlling your theme has a bug in it (bad coding decision by the programmer) on how to change the lock screen.

Well is there way that I can make both the notifications bar and the bottom one with home icon, back button and such on it (don't know what that one is called) transparent I couldn't figure it out using a theme with it.
