I have looked forever in setting trying to figure how not to delete my emails from my server when I delete them from my phone. Is this possible? Thanks.

if you're using gmail, it's a gmail setting. if you're using a different app then the setting is in that app as well. I use gmail, but not on Android. so my gmail account is set not to delete from server for my IMAP, iirc, and same in my Aqua Mail app and Outlook for desktop.

I'm still stymied. I can't find anything in gmail or my other account to address this issue. Nothing in settings that I can see.

I think it has to do with imap versus pop selection for the accounts. Mine are imap which seems recommended, but I think I can only achieve not deleting them with pop. Not sure though??

I use BlackBerry HUB for my emails, and it has a setting for that. I looked at the stock email app, and didn't see that setting.Screenshot_20180408-155216_Hub.jpgScreenshot_20180408-155155_Hub.jpg

IMAP isn't physically storing your entire emails on your phone -- only headers. With IMAP, you're just syncing the email client with the server so that the client displays what's on the server. If you want to keep the email, don't delete it -- it won't take up any space on your phone. This is in contrast to POP3, which physically downloads the whole email to your phone's storage, and then gives you the option of keeping or deleting the email on the server. It's a fairly outdated protocol, and leaves the user vulnerable to crucial data loss (e.g., if you delete the original email from the server, and then something happens to your phone).

I did not know that. I have often wondered why people save all their emails on their phones. Thanks.
