Android Central Question

Lost my Samsung Galaxy S9. In the interim, I temporarily deactivated my line. I used a friend's spare android just for wifi/apps but did not get a new sim card. Now, I got my hands on an iPhone which I have gotten a new sim card for, and my prior phone number has been re-linked to that. However, obviously my prior information, like contacts, media, etc., have not transferred over yet, and I was told by my network provider I would have to do that manually on my own. When I log into Google Drive on my temporary interim Android, I click the menu, click backups, and I see "Galaxy S9+ backup." The only thing I can do with it is "delete." When I click on the backup, though, it then expands to, "App data," "call history," "device settings," and "SMS." All of which the only thing I can do with them is "delete."

I logged into this same google drive account on my new iPhone, but this backup data does not show up there. So how do I transfer this data (most importantly my contacts) to my new iPhone?

You don't. Just as with an iPhone backup in iCloud the data is intended to be restored to a phone running Android. If you can see your contacts in your Google account (through gmail or contacts.google.com) then just signing in to your google account would give you your contacts on your iPhone.

The only way to restore a backup is during the initial setup process. You can't restore the backup directly from Google Drive

If you have backed this files to Google account, restore the backup files on your PC first. And then move them to your new iphone.

Do tell... how would one do that? The 'backups' item noted by the OP is only visible on Android devices and can only be restored to another Android device during the setup process.

Welcome to Android Central! The only "backup" data you can access from an iPhone would be the files/photos that you may have synced while using your Android device (or using Google services on a PC) -- like files on Google Drive, photos in Google Photos, music in YouTube Music, etc. Is that what you're looking for?
