how to transfer contacts from galaxy s3 with broke screen

my screen went completely out on my galaxy s3. i got a new phone, but i cant retrieve my contacts. they were not stored on my google account. any way to get them off old phone?

Welcome to Android Central! That may be tough, since contacts aren't stored as a discrete file--they're in an SQLite database. If you're lucky, perhaps the digitizer is still working, in which case you could connect the phone to a TV or monitor via an MHL/HDMI adapter. If you can see the screen on the TV and the digitizer still works, you should be able to open the Contacts app, tap Menu, then Import/Export. Export the contacts as a .csv or .vcf file, then transfer that file via USB (or the cloud) to your computer. I would then strongly suggest you import the contacts into your Google Contacts, so that something like this doesn't happen again.
