How do I transfer data from my m9 to Galaxy s7

So i am having trouble transferring my data like music, videos, pictures and contacts. i tried using that adapter that came with the phone but it dont work with htc phones. i saw the apps in the app store and the free one doesnt let you transfer everything. i called verizon and they said they can only do the contacts. any help is appreciated. thanks

The adapter (USB OTG) should work with the HTC phone. However if it does not, you should still be able to use smart switch to transfer wirelessly (I think for me it tried to use NFC at first)

btw, do NOT select the SD card for smart switch. it's not so smart . smart switch will copy your SD card data from your old phone to the phone storage on the new phone...it's not SD to SD. Maybe I missed checking some option when I did it.
