How do I transfer pictures in my Galaxy S5 phone on to my desktop?

My phone came with the head-phones and charger (plug in to wall/phone), but no USB cable. Can I just buy a USB cable (i.e. -Walgreens or Best Buy?) to use to get this accomplished?

Welcome to Android Central! Any microUSB to USB cable should work, with the exception of some cables that came with certain devices that are only for charging (like a standalone GPS device, for example).

I usually just plug my phone in and go into my phone and copy the big folders that holds all photos
