How do i turn an htc one m8 on that the power button fell out of?

I have an HTC One m8 that the power button broke out of and fell out of the phone completely so now there's just a big hole. It did happen after a fall. The screen still works when I plug the charger it but I don't have USB debugging on so I have no idea on how to turn it on. I have a text message on the phone that is very important to me that I would like to get back. I already replaced the phone with an m9. All I'm asking it for a way to turn it back on or a way to somehow get the text off of it.

Should be able to press the button with a toothpick or something similar
