How do I turn off sound notifications and just leave the texting notification sound on?

When I leave notification sounds on on my phone it is constantly making noise. I want it to only make noise when it rings for a call or when I get a text message. I went through settings and enabled silent notification for every app I could except for the Samsung messaging app, facebook messenger and what's app. Yet my phone is still making too much noise. Is there a step I am missing?

Aside from Notification settings check Sound and Vibrations settings and turn off what you don't want want to hear. I turned all off except for charging and dialing keypad sounds.

I think I got it. I went to sounds and vibration, notification sounds and then picked silent for default notification sound. Thanks
