How do I 'Ungroup' photos in Gallery???

God, I feel soooo stupid sometimes, haha. I have attached some pics which should help. I am trying to simply 'ungroup' photos, and it will work (as shown in Picture B) for about 1 second when I touch the 'Group/Ungroup' icon. But then the display immediately reverts back to a group display (as shown in Picture A). I have Googled the heck out of this. Maybe it is so simple that only a true Simpleton could miss it, LOL. The 'ungrouped' pic (Picture B) is the display that only lasts for about a second. THAT (Picture B) is the display that I am trying to achieve. Thanks

On my S21 Ultra, if I select "Pictures" at the bottom of the screen it groups them into different dates, like in your Picture A. If I select "Albums" it puts everything into one big folder named Camera, except for some pics in several custom folders I made. It lists the newest pictures first but the layout looks like what's in your Picture B.
