How do I view the status and navigation bar Android 7.1.2?

[Android Central Question]

I recently purchased a MXQ Pro 4k, it has Android 7.1.2, however, i am unable to see the status bar when in an app, I can't view the notification (no pull down menu) or navigation bars when I'm on the home screen. I have factory reset the box, but i am still unable to view either. Can anyone please help me?
