How do you assign google assistant to the home button 'hard press' on S8?

Hi,

I recently upgraded to a S8 and pretty early on removed the google app from my phone so that it wouldn't launch from pressing the home button.

Now I want the feature back and even though I've reinstalled the app when I played press the home button it doesn't do do anything?

Cab anyone help?!

Try going into Google setting under phone and make sure the Google Assistant is turned on.

It's not a hard press, it's a long press. Hold the button down for at least two seconds.

Ahah i did the same as op but now my long press opens the samsung browser

1. From your device’s Settings, tap Apps.
2. Tap the 3-dot menu button > Default apps > Device assistance app
3. Tap Device assistance app, and then select Google.
