How do you close the camera app on Samsung Galaxy S9+

The only way I can find to close the camera is to go into the task switcher. Is there a better way to close the camera if you accidentally open it?

That's actually the quickest way to fully shut it down from running in the background. Other than that you'd have to go into settings under applications and do s force close.

Thanks. That seems a little dumb though. Should be an X to close the window/app (camera).

Why would you need to close it? you just press the back or home button, if its opened accidentally. It doesn't use any batt or resources if its running in the background and not being used.

Yeah just hitting the home esentially closes it but if really wanted to shut it down then you have to force close it or swipe it away from the background. But like said earlier it won't harm battery just by pressing home the home button. Apps like the camera that don't need to run in background are usually shut down from running by the OS.

I just back out of it, the same way I do with most every other app.

It seems that to have it open but idle would make it easier for hackers and / or state actors to turn it on and basically spy. I shut mine down.

Press the back button. It doesn't matter if it still is in the recent apps list because being on that list doesn't mean it's running. It's the recent apps list. Basically your app history. Pressing back exits, pressing home puts it in background.

Highly unlikely that would ever happen tbf. The phone would have to be lost/stolen first and then it would probably be locked anyway. You cant hack it remotely via the cam or anything like that either.

No, it closes the user interface, but the camera is still running. That's the same for any app. Hitting the home button brings the homescreen (the launcher) to the foreground, but leaves the app that was in the foreground running. the back button should close the app (if it's developed properly), so should Force Stopping the app.

But leaving an app running (hitting the home button to "close" apps) slows the phone down. Android still has to keep track of the app. Closing it doesn't remove its code from RAM, but it marks that part of RAM empty, so Android can "forget" about the app. Keeping track of the app takes a finite amount of time.
