how do you copy a text message to paste it in another text filed on a pixel 3

[Android Central Question]

I am using a Pixel 3xl. When I receive a text message and want to copy it and paste it how do I accomplish this? If I tap and hold the message the message bubble turns dark gray but nothing else happens, I am not given the option to copy or anything. It's as if it wants to copy it but I am not given the option to, is this a bug?

Welcome to Android Central! After you long-press the message, tap the Copy icon at the top of the screen. It's a little counterintuitive.:-\
