All my contacts were downloaded from either Facebook or Google contacts. When I click on edit, to add a phone number, it just shows me the existing contact info with no option to edit it. What am I don't wrong?

Once you have the individual contact open. Press the menu button, to the left of the home button in portrait mode, and the EDIT option is there in the list of options.

Thats what I did, but the options do not show up. it just shows the existing contact info.

This is doesn't happen to all my contacts. Some I am able to edit it fine.

Ok the pattern is, if it was downloaded from Facebook I cannot edit the contact. Anyone else having this problem?

I edit from Gmail. Seems to take a lot of fuss out of it.

So if my contact is only a Facebook contact I need to create another one in google? wow thats pretty lame....

I believe that once they are "imported" they should be in your Google contacts as well. Try going to the gmail website, go to contacts, and see if that's the case.

I don't personally have knowledge about that b/c I'm fairly...anal...with regards to contacts. Duplicates grind my gears :).

nope the Facebook contacts are not in my google contacts :(

All you have to do is create a google contact and then merge it with the facebook contact. Think about it, why SHOULD you be able to edit someone's Facebook contact? That makes no sense

i should be able to edit any thing thats in my phone thats why...makes perfect sense. Coming from a BB this wasn't an issue. Anyway, now I know that the FB contacts are read only. A pain, but didn't take that long to redo.

Here are the steps:

When viewing the contact from the sms screen, do not try to edit contact from the phone contact/frequent call list, you will not enter edit mode or see the dots, once in sms screen tap on the contacts photo or empty photo box, the photo/box will then super-impose, tap the screen again this will enable contact editing mode, you must hold the phone in portrait mode you will see the 3 vertical dots next to a greyed out star on the border of the contact screen.

* To enable portrait mode you must flip your phone horizontal, if your holding your phone up vertical in the shape of on I your doing it wrong!

If you do not see the border around the contact, you are viewing the wrong contact info screen and did not read my instructions or pay attention to what I'm saying, sell your phone.:-[

The phone enters portrait mode anytime you flip it around, test it on youtube, you can expand the video screen and remove the video data by simply flipping your phone sideways.

I will post a video if you need help.

Happy New Year!

how to add numbers to facebook contacts

I had to play with it for a little bit but you have to add the contact seperatly from the facebook info. I opened the facebook contact, Then touch the menu button (dont hold down) and choose the link option. Choose the contact you want to link to the open contact. that linked the number and all info for me. Hope this helps and is understandable.
