How do you get the device to see photos in sub folders?

I have copied subfolders of photos under the pictures/ photos folder onto my device.

Some are from events, trips, etc.

However, using the stock photo app it doesn't recognize sub folders.
It does for videos, but not for photos.
Any ideas using the stock app?
Any ideas for an app that would work?

I mean I don't want to scroll through tons of photos to get to one that I want.

I copied folders from my pictures on the PC to the pictures folder on the Gnex and the Gallery stock app sees the folders just fine.

Once you have them copied over, a phone reboot should do the trick because then the phone scans for all media files. If it still doesn't work, reconnect your phone and make sure there isn't a .nomedia file in the target folder (might be hidden too)
