How do you like your 5x? Regrets at all?

I only have a few minor issues with my Nexus 5X. First, it's just a bit too big for me and it doesn't feel that great in the hand. My 2014 Moto G is significantly better in both respects, and while I'm otherwise thrilled with the Nexus 5X and will definitely be keeping it, it's still something I notice every time I hold it. Second, the speaker is quite bad, even for a mono speaker in a phone. It's a definite step down from my Moto G in that regard as well.

yea, the last nexus 5 from LG had qi wireless built in, wth......
You don't have to agree with their reasoning, but the Nexus team did explain on a Reddit AMA why those chose to ditch wireless charging:
Nexus team said:
We added Qi wireless charging starting with N4 because plugging in USB micro B was such a hassle! (Which way is up!?) With this year’s Nexii, we support USB Type-C which has a reversible connector so there’s no more guessing. AND it charges incredibly swiftly: 1% to 100% in 97 mins on the 6P for example (the first ~45 mins of charging is especially fast). Meanwhile, wireless charging adds z (thickness). So, ease of plugging in + fast charging + optimizing for thinness made us double down on Type-C instead of wireless!

I don't get why so many people are worked up about the lack of Qi Charging. I personally don't see the need for it. If my 5X had wireless charging I would never use it anyway because I prefer to plug in and get a quick charge instead of a painfully slow charge with Qi. Just my ¢0.02.

Agree. Wireless charging is so slow. It's pathetic

I have the nexus 5x and am still tempted to try the 6p. I opted for the 5x due to the size and I miss the ease of one handed use. I can use something like a oneplus two one handed but that little bit of extra girth makes a difference to me. I'm OK with the performance but I honestly feel like it should be better and I blame a lot of it on android. The only thing that annoys me is the camera sometimes has really bad lag. I wish most OEMs would do something like the 6p in a 5 inch footprint. I really do think it is the sweet spot for me personally and miss flagships that don't skimp on that size. I think the original M7 by HTC is still my favorite flagship within that realm.

I'm really happy with this phone. This is my first Google Nexus phone. I've had tons of smartphones and I think I always get caught up in the hype of the major manufacturers like Samsung and LG. Recently I had an s6 and G4 and they were great phones but both had issues like crashing and they got slow fairly quickly. I'm realizing what all the hype is about pure Android cause this phone is just so smooth easy to use. Sure there are some kinks to work out but you know you will be the one with the latest software and that's big. I was not liking the size at first and still think they could have done better with the bezels but I'm coming around to love the bigger screen compared to a Z5 compact that I had last even though the 5x is overall a bit harder for me to use one handed. The Ram is a big point for people to harp on and I may be crazy but I don't mind an extra 2 seconds to open the 12th app I had been on. The phone doesn't bog down otherwise and smoothness in scrolling and screen transition is more important to me and there, I haven't had a smoother experience than the 5x. I'll tell you what I also had the iPhone 6s and price aside, this phone is both easier to use and more fluid. I'm loving that Google had decided to run commercials on the Nexus line because I'd love to see more get to experience these great phones. Iphone is the status phone but hell I find myself trying to show off the Nexus logo on the back of mine when I'm out! Hehe. I feel I got the best

Here's where it's not pathetic. You put the phone on it when you go to sleep at night. If it happens to be next to your bed and plugged in, when you grab the phone in the morning you never have to worry about yanking on the plug accidentally possibly damaging the plug or the socket.

Yeah, but.. It's still a slow charging though

Never damaged the plug or socket in the years I have had smart phones plugged in near my bed....Never heard of it being an issue with anyone else neither

I've definitely had two phones over the years that their charging part died on me. Thank god both had removable battery because I used a battery charger to charge my phone and bought spare batteries. So this does happen, though those were both with phones I had a long time and I don't keep phones that long these days.

I've got two cables where the mini USB plug bent and the phone doesn't always charge if it doesn't sit at a perfect angle. Part of the ripoff I guess...design a system that you know will fail and charge high prices for crappy cables.

Mine is so slow and laggy. Takes sometimes up to 10 seconds for an app to open before I can use it. Doesn't seem like much but when you're standing there waiting, its a pain in the ***. Camera is very slow as well. When I first got the phone it was lightning fast, now it's crap. I have the 16gb version and still have plenty of memory left so I really don't understand why its so bad.

Mine isn't quite this bad, but it does lag more than others seem to experience. Thinking about asking google to swap mine out.

Maybe a buggy app that's not been optimized for Android 6.0+. Try clearing the system cache. Turn off the phone, hold power and volume down until you're in the bootloader screen. Select Recovery with the volume buttons and hit the power button. The once you see the android lying down, hold the power button and quickly press and release the volume up button. You'll see an option to wipe system cache. Try it and see if it helps.

Wiped system cache and it seemed to work when I rebooted but an hour later it was just as slow and laggy as before. Called Google and they are going to let me return the device and repurchase if I want to.

I'm still rockin' my N4. I have absolutely loved this phone. Best phone I've ever had by a long shot!!
The other thing is that my N4 still works perfectly and is still buttery smooth so maybe I'll wait till the N7. No need to waste money although a better screen and a finger print sensor would be nice. I mean the N4 is only a 720 screen, 1080 and amoled screens must be very nice and easy to see.
I'm really starting to get the Itch for a new phone after 3yrs with this and would love a 5x for the form factor bit there were a lot of complaints about lag. They seem to be getting cleared up with the latest update though. Also my phone still works great so I'll probably wait till prices drop or my phone stops working!!

I have just returned my second 5X and am back using my Moto X (2013). Ambient display and notifications did not work and Google support was unable to help. Sound and screen quality was not as good as I was used to, although battery life was quite good. All in all, I have decided to wait for the next new great phone and give it a try.

I thought the same thing, I had no idea what he was talking about. Even those flimsy lighting cables hold up just fine for my iPhone friends.

Major regrets...switched to the 6p after a month...laggy laggy laggy...also the battery life was very bleh at best...the 5x is not a phone I'd reccomend
