how do you make text and email notification sounds different?

just went from an s4 to the s6 edge+ and im lost, i cant figure out how to make email and text notifications have different sounds and also cant figure out what makes the edge light up it seems to only turn on when im cleaning my screen...lol is there a way to keep the clock on the edge on? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Generally speaking, notification sounds are set in the individual app.

For example, if you are using the GMail app, tap menu -> Settings -> [your account name] -> Inbox sound & vibrate -> Sound.

N4Newbie, is correct regarding settings for the GMail App.....

Try Settings, Sound and Notification, Ringtones and Sounds, once there, you should see Message notifications, Calendar notifications, Email notifications. Set each one to what you want and like.

For the edge screen, Settings, Edge screen. Everything you need to set is there. With the screen off and dark, run your finger up and down whichever edge you have set up and it will bring up the time and any notifications you have set. You also can set the amount of time you want these to stay on. All of these are, as I said, in Settings, Edge screen. Hope that helps...
