how do you separate merged contacts in an LG G4

After the sprint store transferring of contacts from an LG G2 to a G4 I had a duplicate list, google and phone. I merged the contacts thinking that would combine the google and phone contact as one listing. Then I realized I could just sync with the online contacts file so I deleted the entire contacts list. Now I have some contacts merged in my phone that should be separated. These are parents and children who have different mobile numbers but the same home phone. Without looking through a thousand contacts is there a way to separate any remaining merged contacts in my phone (they are not merged in my gmail contacts list)?

From the stock contacts? In Contacts, tap the overflow menu and tap Manage Contacts, from there select Merge Contacts, this shows merge contact suggestions, now swipe to the right to view merged contacts. This displays merged contacts and lets you separate them as needed.
