How do you show the character count in the stock messaging app on the s6 edge?

When I compose text messages in the stock messaging app, I've noticed that it doesn't show how many characters I have left. Is that something Samsung have left out of the s6 edge?

I don't have a the S6 Edge. However, I've noticed that the count shows whenever you have split message enabled. Do you have that feature on your messaging app?
