How do you silence Vignette shutter sound?

I have it set to silent in the settings but it still makes the "click" noise and it's loud. I turned off the stock camera's shutter tone just in case. I read it might be tied to the alarm volume so I turned that off. I even put the phone on SILENT and it STILL made the noise. (how is that even possible?)

Anyone know what to do? Thanks.

It's hard to take pics of girls without them knowing with this noise. :p

O thou creepy fella :p...press the auto button on the screen then the camera hardware setting pops up, put shutter on silent...voila!!

I'm having the same problem... shutter sound is already set to silent, and it still makes the noise. Very annoying.

It is set to silent. That's why I can't understand why it keeps making the noise. I even put the phone on silent and it still made the noise.

It used to work just fine.
I created a silent mp3, and put it in place of the camera sound.

Just checked Vignette's known bugs on their site and saw this:
25 Can't silence shutter sound on some phones -- Probably no way to fix

Well that sucks and doesn't really make any sense. How can you silence the stock camera, but not a 3rd party app? How does it override when you put your phone on silent too?

And there's no way to fix that? You can't just remove the sound file from the app?

How did you make it the camera sound?

Under Shutter Sound in Vignette the options are Silent, Vibrate, Default, Vignette?

Do I have to change it somewhere else?

You have to have root to alter system files.
I replaced /system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg.

did you try turning System volume down as well?? I remember that had something to do with the camera sound.

I turned down the volume on Ringtone, Media, Alarm, and Notification and it STILL made the stupid noise.

WTF?

Open camera and look at the options its near the bottom scroll down third from the bottom in settings menu

OK I'll say it lol. Let it go OP, chicks don't like it when you take pics of them without them knowing lol. Consider this a defense against a shot to the ole braciole or worse a call to the 5.0

LOL

I was joking. I figured someone was going to make that joke eventually about why I wanted it silenced.

It's just a really loud and annoying noise every time you try to take a pic. No matter what the pic is of.

Have you tried going into your alarm app and setting it to NOT work when in silent mode? Then set phone to silent mode and try it.

As to the reasons for no camera sound...could be that you want some candid shots of your kid playign or even your kid playing with their friends, and if anyone hears the shutter sound, they just start looking at you and smiling...end of candid shots.

I LOL'd like a fool @ dunkin donuts just now. Every order comes w a free paper. the Sunday Star Ledger's front page article on the left column read " For nudists, a new foe: Cellphone cameras" haha I immediately thought of Mike and this thread haha. Lookout for him at our only nude beach in NJ :0
