I Double Tap To Wake. My last few phones have unlocked this way so it was a great surprise to randomly discover I could do it on the s8+

I have Smart unlock enabled using my smartwatch and Bluetooth as trusted devices so I don't need the FPS etc. All I do now is Double Tap the virtual home button then swipe anywhere on the lock screen to unlock. It works fantastic

how do you do that on your S8, have a friend who was just complaining about not being able to do that.

Set up Smart unlock (have a Bluetooth device/home location/smart watch etc as a trusted device) so you don't need the fingerprint sensor or pin code etc to unlock the phone. I have Always On Display on and always show the home button. So when the phone is locked I just double tap on the virtual home button then swipe anywhere and the phone unlocks. It works great and is almost identical to my Lumia 950 xl or old LG G5.

Ok, so it's not double tap anywhere, that is what she was missing. But thanks for the quick response.

No. You have to double tap on the home button but can swipe anywhere after that.

The thing that kind of annoys me knowing this is that the s8 is clearly capable of normal Double Tap To Wake so I wish Samsung implement it.

Iris scanner works great for me. Like others have stated I was surprised to find that it works in the dark. The fps is my back up and with my Otterbox case it's easy to find correctly every time.

FPS and facial recognition and pin. FPS works well after you get the muscle memory for your fingertips to hit it.

Remember to record your finger and couple times so the S8 will learn more fingerprint variations.

Good idea did not think of that (the same finger twice)

FPS is fast and easy, iris scanner is hit or miss and slower. I have them both set up but use the fps

Same exact thing I do. I do have both iris and fps configured if I'm out of range of my smart lock device and both have worked fine for me.

Never even thought of that before. Just added the same finger as Fingerprint 2 and it's made a massive improvement to accuracy and unlocks 1st time everytime now whereas it was hit or miss before

Smart Unlock in the car; Iris Scanner most of the rest of the time; FPS when my glasses have darkened in bright sunlight.

I have fingerprint an iris scanner active but I use the iris scanner to unlock my phone always. Its so fast and easy! Even works in the dark.

I hate both facial recognition, and iris scanner. Honestly, iris scanner is garbage and it never works for me. I mainly use the fingerprint sensor.

Iris scanner. Works through my glasses, contacts, and sunglasses with contacts. And it's about as fast as my swipe pattern.
