How does Android organize contact numbers?

While looking at an individual contact with 5 numbers, I noticed there doesn't appear to be any order with which Android displays the list of their numbers. For this person it shows work number, then work fax, then home, then another work fax, then mobile. I want it to show mobile number first, but it doesn't look like I have the option to display which numbers come first. Any thoughts?

go into gmail on a desktop/laptop. Then go into contacts. You will be able to manually change the ordering there.
