How Does Password Protection Work

If I set a password on my Samsung galaxy S5 so no one can get into my phone, will I be required to enter that password every time I get a phone call? That would be cumbersome.

No. You can answer or decline an incoming call with no pasword needed.
Confirm this by calling yourself from another line.
