How durable is the s9+

I got my s9+ on Wednesday and love it. I got talked into a snap on plastic case from verizon. After a day and a half I couldn't stand it and pried it off. I shouldn't have to worry about the frame of the phone or the front glass being stressed right? It sounds like this year samsung used 7000 series aluminum and thicker glass.

The device is covered in glass. That should suggest everything in regards to having a shock absorbing case.

My clear case is tight fit, and takes a bit of effort to get off. I have had it off a few times now to clean the phone. The frame and glass seems fairly rigid. I think it would take some effort to bend it. That doesn't mean you can sit on it while it's in your back pocket though, lol.

I just finished using my phone to take a ton of pics in Maui for 7 days, including several underwater shots in the ocean. This with nothing but a clear case and no screen protector. It survived fine, and there's not a mark on my display. I'm impressed, considering one grain of sand in my pocket could have scratched the heck out of it.

I wouldn't recommend dropping it on cement, hard floors, or even carpeting.

Get a case!

S8+ is basically the same construction and the reason I am in the S9 forum is because even with a minimal case I dropped the phone less then 3' onto a tile floor and the back cracked and turned into a spider web that was sharp. My opinion very fragile. I know have the Samsung silicone rubber case hopefully that is a bit more protective.

The S9 face survived the CNET drop test, but... the back spiderwebbed first drop. My first case in years!

I got an otterbox symmetry. So for everyone saying use a case....I have a case. My question was about how removing a plastic snap case would effect the phone.

Unless you like a spider web effect on the glass, that slowly separates into very sharp cracks.

If you have ever seen the JerryRigEverything channel he tries to bend phones with all his strength. And he's a body builder. The s9 barely flexes and survives. Taking a case off should be fine.

you ever drop a glass cup and then be happy it didn't break. About as durably as that.
