How far away must your watch be to trigger Android's Smart Lock?

Hey there,

I've considered using the Smart Lock feature by using my Android Wear watch as a trusted device. However, I'm hoping the range for which it stays unlocked is small.

For example, if I leave my phone at my work desk and go down the hall, will it be far enough to require a secure unlock? If I leave my phone on the couch to use the bathroom at home, will my child be able to use it without a secure unlock?

If the distance is under 10ft, that would be great. If the phone stays unsecured when I'm far away, that's not going to work for me.

Thoughts?

Bluetooth has a theoretical range of up to 100 meters. But that also depends on several factors like the emitting radio, and a direct line of sight. Once you break the line of sight, the range drops drastically. I would say a more realistic range would be 30 to 60 feet.

Thanks for the reply. So there's no way for it to enforce a secure login at specific distances? Like say... 10 feet?
