How fast does HTC push security and OS updates?

My issue is a May sales release with a March Security Update. Not even April? C'mon!

As stated above, this is a carrier issue. Not something HTC is really responsible for. They've already pushed out the certification, it's now up to YOUR carrier to finish the update and push it out to your carrier branded device.

While Verizon isn't without blame here, HTC didn't give Verizon/Sprint users the option to buy the phone unlocked for faster updates. If Google, Apple, and Motorola can do it, I don't see why HTC couldn't. I would have gladly paid full price for an all-carrier, unlocked 10. Disappointing.

It is not HTC's fault both Sprint and Verizon one of their own versions they did not allow HTC to do unlocked phones on their Networks that is the bottom line. Apple has more pull than they make more money. Samsung has no unlock devices on Verizon so those updates take just as long and if you talk about Motorola they're not on mine either and those updates also I have to go through Verizon. This is all except for the Nexus 6p which comes from Google. That's the only exception. I don't know why Verizon would not allow the unlocked version on their Network they just don't.

Again anything to do with carriers have to do with the carriers.htc gives them the software and it's up to the carrier.i have the unlocked and it's update.

Clearly it is possible seeing as how Samsung and Verizon is pushing updates pretty regularly so far on the Verizon s7.

This is similar over T-Mobile. My wife phone got couple update when I brought it. I guess Samsung pushing good marketing. Lol

I thought I read somewhere that HTC was only second to Google for security updates? Odd. Samsung is usually slow to get OS updates compared to HTC and other OEMs thanks to Touchwiz.

If you get your phone from carriers, locked or unlocked, your update speed is controlled by your carrier, not HTC. If you get your device from HTC directly, the update speed is controlled by HTC.

So I am still curious: for guys who got HTC 10 directly from HTC, would you please comment on how fast you receive security and OS updates.

Thanks!

Well, my Nexus 9 just got its security patch two days ago. So, I'll give them 2 weeks before I start ranting my overly displeased childish drama(only because I am awaiting that 1.55 update that fixes the camera flares). I'm EXTREMELY enthused with the security patches...but not really...HAHA

Verizon allows unlocked phones on their network. I'm using the non-carrier, SIM-free Motorola Moto X Pure Edition on Verizon, CDMA and all. This phone would work on Sprint too.

HTC tried to do an unlocked One A9 that would work on Verizon on LTE only but scrapped that.

Any OEM can do updates fast. All they have to do is try.

We've seen most major OEMs be surprisingly fast with some updates and painfully slow with other updates.

It does however have to have Verizon certification if you want to go though Verizon official activation channels. If you are willing to skip official Verizon activation channels then an unlocked device capable of band 13 lte can be used on Verizon with an active Verizon 4GLTE sim card.

Well, given that it is almost August and many of us are still on 1 March security patch for a phone released in May. 4 months behind and I can't say I am impressed at all.

What are you talking about my unlocked HTC 10 Artie has a security update. That may be because of the carrier's not HTC themselves and I receive that in July
