How important are OS updates when considering longevity?

This is more a long-term value question, I'm aware the hardware isn't hugely different apart from the processor. So my two questions relate to longevity in terms of the OS updates/security and the processor. The 400 euro difference between the S9 plus and S10 plus is significant for me., but if I spend this much I plan to use it for quite a while

Are you asking about phones or tablets?

Both the Samsung S9+ and the S10+ phones are no longer supported by Samsung with updates or security patches since 2022 and 2023 respectively.

The tablets will each receive 7 years of support which mean the S10+ will have a year longer on software and security updates as they were released in 2023 & 2024. However, these updates may drop down to quarterly and not monthly, towards their end of life.
