How is Froyo working out for you?

Update went flawless. Love the new features. Battery life has improved Dramatically. Battery life went from lasting 11-12hours before needing a charge, to 20 plus hours. Seems to be getting better each day. I'm still at 40% after 19 hours.

Installed fine, but has killed my phone. Battery life is down, my phone freezes constantly (this is the second time I wrote this) gallery lags, music is choppy then will freeze, blus tooth audio is just as bad. Froyo is the worst thing ever. Good news is I got flash ( inbetween crashing every 15 mins)

Hope verizon wants my phone cuz I'm getting a new x for free from them.

I'm fine after the update. I'm in the 1400s for my Quadrant scores. I had installed the leaked 2.2, flashed back to 2.1, and then got the 2.2 OTA update. I've always been unrooted.

I truly haven't noticed a huge performace difference, some cosmetic changes but that's about it. I will say the accelerometer is slower to switch from landscape to portrait mode, which I find annoying.

Worked good on 2.1 eclair, If anything it's better on 2.2 froyo :D

PS: Is someone gunno make a thread "I'm back on 2.1" ...just to see who if anyone actually went back to stay? LoL

I'm pretty happy with 2.2, and all of the improvements. It was up and running by 1 AM on September 22. The update went without any surprises or problems.

The only big disappointment for me is the Contacts First Name sort order issue. I was hopeful that Motorola would clean up that software coincident with the 2.2 release, but that was obviously not the case. I'm also not a fan of the 2.2 version of gallery. Lots of eye candy, but no easy display of groups of photos and videos. Fortunately, I still have a copy of the 2.1 version, and I just use that instead.

The only problem im having with 2.2 is the sms bug but beside that everything is fine.

Had no problems with the update to 2.2.

Did have one problem with the Battery Manager doing a Force Close.
Removed & reinstalled my BattStatt widget and the FC stopped happening.

Email, Messages, WiFi, PdaNet and a lot of other apps seem to work fine.

Overall, very satisfied with 2.2. Have to wonder if the problems experienced by others here are related to widgets/apps on their DXs? Guess we will never know for sure.

It would be nice if this poll could get stickied for a while. A lot of people who stop by the site right now have the impression that 2.2 is a bad/risky adventure, while the current numbers on the poll show that less than 10% are dissatisfied.

Remind me to not have you do any science experiments. 46 people vs. 90 say it's buggy or downright hate it and you think that's less than 10%????

Impression...

So, I ended up not clearing my SD card, yesterday, to try the Factory Restore before downloading 2.2. Since I went into the Phone System section by mistake, it automatically starts the pop-up asking if you want to update. I said "Later" and the phone ended up doing it while I wasn't looking.

So, after staring at the new lock screen in horror, I deleted majority of my stuff off the SD just in case. Then, I immediately went to check out the TXT message section and saw no dates out of place. Sighed in relief, and decided to play around to see what I can find.

Impressions:

+ The time between lock screen and main screen is definitely a bit quicker than 2.1.

+ The time it takes switching between screen sections of the phone seems to be the same to me, as from 2.1. Not sure if everyone actually looks at this to count this as part of the speed process.

+ The internet browser definitely feels faster. Same goes for Youtube loading time. Thought that may be because I had the phone plugged into the computer so I took it off and charged it on the wall. No change in speed so that's good. Just need to test the dining room because that's the only area of the house which seems to be a dead zone for Youtube. O.o

+ The charging time on the computer seems to be a bit slower than 2.1. Maybe, that's just my phone, but that's what it felt like to me. So yeah, after putting it on the wall, the charging speed went from 40 percent to 60 within a couple of mintues as expected. Maybe, more than expected. In 2.1, my phone can easily last about two days without charging. Curious to see how 2.2 will fare.

+ Oh yeah, the new "Privacy" section is definitely a 2.2 thing only.

+ The newer added apps are both interesting and a bit of a bother, but as long as I can keep deleting the NFS game, I'm satisfied. Personally, I'm not really big on phone apps so apps are not really much of an issue as long as they don't clutter the phone. But, I really do like the "Word equivalent" application on the phone.

+ Tested a Flash site and it works. Marvellous.

+ The only slight strange thing that happened was the menu window for the Text/mail/etc. screen opened up on its own. Maybe, that is due to touch sensitivity? I have no idea though....

Now, just need to test out talking to other people and further text messaging. I even texted myself in paranoia to see what happened to the date order and nothing happened. Maybe, I don't need a System Factory Restore...? And thus, I probably don't have to format my SD either...? o__o

Time will only tell....

Actually you're incorrect. It WAS 90 to 46 when I posted. Now it's 51 to 104. Either way my point stands that the poster who suggested it was less than 10% is just a tiny bit off.
