how long has your battery lasted F-E

If I am lucky I get about 5-6hrs with my Epic on a full charge. I see everyone here getting more hours after a charge. I found I gained a slight increase in battery when I turned off the "Live Wallpaper" However I went into the brightness settings and I changed the automatic brightness to "off" and manually put it down at the lowest setting...still works great and I don't have a problem seeing the screen at all.

I see some people with numbers such as 25% screen in the "Battery Use" screen. When I look at mine I'm still getting a high number of 55%-80%. This is with the screen is on the lowest setting for brightness. Can anyone suggest anything for this?

I have tried Juice Defender....meh...caused more problems than I wanted to deal with. I would like to see if maybe a solution is there or something is up with the phone..

Thanks In Advance..

if you know what you're doing, (install titanium backup, remove unnecessary apps, run auto-kill in advanced task killer, and watch services thru autorun killer) you can squeeze a full day out of the epic.

a 3200 mAh battery would be a cleaner easier solution tho :P

I am just pissed off us CDMA users never get good long lasting battery phones on CDMA network.

I have friends with EVO and some wondering if they should get the EPIC as well as me. Im currently on Samsung Moment and Bold 9650, but I dont use the moment anymore.

Shut off your 3g and 4g if you're not using it. I am finally getting a full day out of this sucker by doing that when I'm at the office. "dcswitch" works very well to do this and you will still get texts and phone calls. If you need data on all day long, pick up a second battery. Juicedefender caused me problems too and was a pain so I hear ya.
Second batt on ebay was 10bucks with a charger and it works well..

Well I only like to post things to any message board that would be of any value...I left for work yesterday at 4pm PST. I'd say I did about 25-30txt. Browsed the web on my lunch for 30mins...made a few phone calls and checked a few things here and there.

What made a difference was the Advance Task Killer and "Kill Apps When Screen off" this can prevent things from running when your phone is off and drain your battery pretty quickly. At no time did I have my Phone Radio powered off and I was able to receive txt messages and notifications as they arrived.

I arrived home from work at 341am PST a good 11Hrs or so after I pulled it off the charger and I still had a good 38% battery life left. I didn't hook it up to "top it off" on my lunch break because I wanted to see if I could get it through a shift without charging...

I'll test some more and advise...I hope this is of some help.

Hey, i'm new to the Epic from blackberry and my battery life is actually pretty good, i've been out the house since 4am, and i've only had to charge it once and it wasn't a full charge...it's been pretty steady.

Epic Battery Life

Battery life for me varies. Yesterday it lasted from 5:30am to 8pm and still had roughly 70% of charge remaining. Usage was Bluetooth on and connected all day, just shy of 2 hours of talking during the day, about a half hour of 4G use, and an hour of WiFi use.

Day before I had to charge mid-morning, which is probably more in line with what my typical use will be. Heavy 4g network access, WiFi hotspot active.

I do have 4 e-mail accounts feeding in at all times and a couple of RSS feeds. My phone is currently not rooted, running DI07.

What?? 14.5 hours and 70% charge remaining? Are you kidding? Wait, there's more, you actually used the phone for 2 hours along with bluetooth and wifi??! What? Wait, there's more, 4 email accounts to check?

This must be a joke! I can get 14.5 hours out of mine too with data turned off and not making calls!

Well a few days into the new (to me) DI07 and from 7am - 9pm with rather heavy usage and Im at 26%.

^ wow, these numbers are outrageous to me. Good for you though!

I've currently on my LONGEST RUNNING battery streak right now.

BATTERY LOG:

*****************************************

12h 9m since unplugged

Voice calls: 30% @ 12 minutes (uhhh, yeah right?)

Display: 26% @ 49 minutes (auto brightness)

Cell standby: 16% @ 7h 24m
~Time without signal: 75%

Phone Idle: 13% @ 11h 20m

ATK: 7% @ CPU usage of 27m

***************************************

I have used the phone BY FAR the least today since picking it up a month ago. I have sent/received only about 10 texts today and have browsed the internet on WIFI for probably less then 10 minutes. As well, I was in AIRPLANE MODE today for about 3 hours.

I'm happy knowing that my phone could likely go several more hours easily with this little use--but it would be simply fantastic if I could get 12 hours with my typical MODERATE use (internet for 30+ minutes, 1hr. voice calls, 1 hour radio streaming and 20-30 texts etc.)

Today's life was 3 hours before low battery alert. Solid 4g - WiFi tether the whole time with GPS on.

Yesterday's post should be easily repeatable though. I use ATK to auto kill everything, including my mail which checks on schedule anyhow. And the screen is set to shut off at 15 seconds and is at the lowest setting for brightness. haptic feedback is off, ringer volume is low as it can go without turning on vibrate. Basically just an issue of doing everything possible to conserve energy by shutting off as much as possible. Also I'm basing remaining battery life on the stupid meter that is built in, so no idea if it is really worth anything. Can say that it took less than 1 episode of "Two and a Half Men" to be fully recharged though, so had to be pretty close.

The realistic side... I could really care less about how long it lasts since I have power everywhere I go, even when I'm going backcountry thanks to solar cells. Truck is equipped with a 10KW true sine wave inverter and genset for remote locations I tend to like working in.

I got a replacement Epic on Wednesday to fix some display issues. With a new battery and fresh device, I decided to test out the baseline battery life.

Right now, I have been unplugged from a full charge for 20h 25m 46s.

I'm at 10% battery, as calculated by Battery Indicator app.

On the battery use screen:
Display - 43% , on for 2h 21m 45s. I set mine to lowest brightness.
Cell standby - 22%, TWS 5%, no airplane mode toggle.
Phone Idle 14%
Maps 11% - CPU usage ~3m 41s. GPS: 17m 11s
Android System 3%
Voice Calls; 2%. Time on: 57s
Dolphin Browser 2%: CPu Usage 8m 17s

I'm on DI07 update. I chose not to use wifi at all for this test, i.e. all on 3g. I didn't install Juice Defender or any task killer yet as I wanted to see the baseline behavior.

In running services, I see a bunch like gtalkservice, OmaDrmConfigService, MobileAPService, even though I haven't used any of those. There's a counting timer next to them which reads 6:26:50 currently.

Gmail and calendar is autosynced. I haven't set up facebook yet.

In Spare Parts:
Time spend without sleeping: 3h 9m 11s (15.369%)

I did turn on 4g a couple of times to check for signal strength and run speed tests in various areas. But prob no more than 10 mins total.

During this period, I mostly was texting, browsing, and playing WordFeud.

I'm hopeful that once I use wifi and juicedefender, I'll make it more than 24 hours and still have >30% life left.

Screen was on for a little over 4 hours. 3G was on half the time, the other was on wifi. I watched a 40 minute Youtube video, played about 30 minutes of games, did a lot of internet browsing, made a few short calls and did about 100 texts. Time without signal was 0%. I usually keep the brightness on lowest because it's already pretty high, background data off... No updating widgets, those suck battery and they aren't useful to me (they look flashy though). I have Beautiful Widgets set to refresh whenever I turn the screen on though.

BatteryMinder, once it gets calibrated its really accurate and there's a couple different styles to choose from.

It's not empty, but:

From Full to 63% (which includes me sleeping), fully patched, only DRM killed, no phone calls:

12 Hrs 40 Mins since unplugged
Cell Standby: 37%
Phone Idle: 27%
Display: 26%
Android System: 3%
Gem Miner: 2%
Android OS: 2%
Angry Birds: 2%
Wifi: 2%

Spare Parts Battery History:
Other Usage Since Last Unplugged:
Running: 10.9% (1 Hr 23 min)
Screen on: 4.1% (31 Min)
Wifi On: 100%
Wifi Running 28.2% (3 Hr 34 Min)

Theoretically I could have greater than 24 hours of battery life with even light use.

Before plugging in last night, I was sitting at 55% after being off the charger with light-moderate usage. Probably lighter usage than normal. I don’t have the specific percentages, but I surfed the net, used a few apps, made some calls (just a few and they weren’t for that long…maybe 45minutes in total), had Bluetooth on the whole duration and had Juice Defender. Also used wifi at home, but had 3G when I wasn’t home (about 7 hours). I am unrooted, have that DRM off (MediaHub always seem to come back on if you’re using just 3G, but I don’t see if affecting my battery that much), am at the lowest brightness setting for the screen and browser and set the wifi sleep mode to “never”. Also did the wifi on/off toggle.

I am satisfied with this, but I see some people on the forum posting about getting really sick battery life. Some have reported lasting well over two days with fairly heavy usage. I’m curious how this is possible.

OK... I am officially now getting stupidly good battery life...
Rebooted 28hrs ago (Battery Monitor, Phone test Info). Killed DRM (ONLY DRM). Did the WiFi sleep to never thing (Advanced setup in WiFi menu) and changed the GPS to cold boot mode (for faster aquisition, find post for directions). I have ATK set to once every 30 minutes...
Off charger this AM at 05:30... currently at 14hrs 47 min... 62% remaining! Granted, very light use day for me, but prior to the few things I mentioned I only got 12 hrs or so...

So has it been confirmed as to whether you have to still kill DRM for good battery life? I normally skip it but I'm dissatisfied with my battery life even after D18. Battery life is pretty much the same as my Pre, which is one of the main reasons I ditched it

This is the first time my battery has been even decent the entire time I've had it. Took it off the charger at 7a, haven't touched it, it's 10:38a. 96%. Sometimes I'll get to work and from like 7a-9a won't touch it and it'll be at like 81%. Don't know what is different, but I like it.
