how long has your battery lasted F-E

I don't know if this is a coincidence but today i went the day without GPS and my battery lasted drastically longer than previous days. It could be just an anomaly or my battery "breaking in" but i noticed a huge jump in battery life.

For what it's worth.

It seemed like my phone was draining about 10% an hour while doing mostly nothing.

After using the Flight Mode workaround this morning it seems to be draining at about 5% an hour instead, so that definitely helped.

When I first got it, seemed I was burning through the battery like crazy mostly because I was playing with it so much. I got over 22 hours yesterday before charging however. Made a few phone calls, a couple dozen texts, moderate web browsing, but majority of it was in cell standby as I left it overnight off the charger after using it all day.

Strange thing happened tonight. I was using my phone and then the battery icon suddenly dropped and started flashing. A few seconds prior I had 33% left according to Quick Settings. Then a quick check of Quick Settings said 1%. So, instead of plugging it in, I kept doing what I was doing ... using the Internet for a solid 30-45 minutes before plugging in ... batttery indicator flashing the whole time. After that time, I could still keep going, but decided to plug in. Very strange. Not sure what to make of it.

Today, I got about 10 hours until I noticed my phone was telling me to charge it. Running juicedefender, launcherpro, no livewallpaper. What else... heavy texting, about an hour of talking on the phone, using a bit of twitter. Seems alright...

My battery life is getting alot better. When I first got it, I was getting no more than 4 hours. As of lately, i'm getting about 8 hours with heavy use. After I did the whole "airplane mode" trick, battery life has gotten way better. :D

Its ok I guess I can't complain but with all I do on this phone and the quality I can't be too mad just be near car charger or charge when u can and have no problems...long as my phone enables me to make it to a charger I'm ok lol

Same here. We need a real, permanent fix that doesn't break GPS. But at least the phone is usable no.

8 hours to the dot from off the charger to battery warning. Moderate usage, mostly messing with widgets and customization/downloads, maybe 20 minutes of Angry Birds playtime.

Seems typical from all the previous posts, but I definitely wish it were a bit longer, even just 2 hours + would be nice, get me through a day of work.

Afraid to use the phone? The one that showed 17hrs with 10% left, I got to 18 1/2 hrs. The Up time was 18 1/2 hrs with awake time of 6 hrs.

I must have a dud of a phone then, i'm on 4h 42m since unplugged, with 6% battery life left. Display is showing 65% Cell standby 19% and the rest <5

I made it 7 1/2 hours today before I needed to recharge. 2 short voice calls, light texting, no surfing, and 2 emails polling every 15 minutes. This is unacceptable that I cannot make it thru a work day without recharging with such light usage. Hate to say but my iPhone 3Gs does better.

dont know if or how to take sceen shots but wanted to type the info in before i charge it or it turned off.
1day 38mins 11secs since unpluged
33%cell time
32%display
15 phone idle
6% sprint nav
2% android system
2% pocket empires
I have screen set to low setting and atk set to kill all when screen is off.
Gps off and wifi on always. So for what i use it for and how long I'm out for , if I can last 8 hours before a charge I'm good. today at work was'nt able to use it as i would but my for what i did check today on my phone i am very happy with it....

My battery last me 1.5x to 2x longer than my Pre did. I have wifi always on, and can usually go 12-14 hours unplugged with moderate usage.

If I'm at home listening to music, browsing the web, texting and ~20 minutes of phone calls I get about 5-7 hours.

If I'm browsing anything with weak 3g signal not only do things load sporadically, but I get about 3-4 hours of battery.

Wow I really feel for you guys with bad battery life. Coming from the pre I fell your pain. I was wondering those of you with bad battery conditioned your battery when you first got your phone. I would say im a moderate user and after 14 and a half hours unplugged im at 51% battery life remaining.

I only got about 8 hours with destructive/murderous usage compared to the 12 on the EVO, although I think I used my Epic way more than the EVO.

Upon further investigating...

This might be because Samsung used a dirty hack to make the Galaxy S phone CDMA friendly. This was the way back with the Hero and we started flashing 2.1 ROMS.

Go into battery information and check out the Cell Standby info. Time without a signal is what's important. If that is high... like double digits high, it's because Samsung didn't fix that little issue of trying to find a CDMA tower over a GSM tower. Sigh... we might need to wait for a fix, but in the meantime, people need need need to call in about it. Tell them 5 hours of battery life isn't acceptable, nor is installing Juice Defender (it totally makes your smart phone a dumb phone...)

geee whiz mine showed to be about 35% :(

what are you guys doing to get this battery life, my wife had her phone at work with her, used it to text maybe ten texts, talk for a total of 15 min and after a 9 hour day it was dead and shut off. give examples of settings you guys use. mine is a bit better than hers but not much

I am a BB convert with the Epic being my first Android phone. I am used to going 3-4 days max without charging a phone. And that is with Google Maps or Sprint Nav with moderate browser and email usage.

I got my Epic on launch day and immediately place it to charge. At first use I got around 4-5 hours with it. As time passes and with additional tweaking here and there I am noticing the increase in battery life. I still have to charge it once daily. Mostly charging when at <10%.

While I love the phone and it's capabilites, I am not 100% satisfied with it and that is due to the battery life. The most I've gotten it to last was a little over 8 hours. I notice that my Display is typically above 30%. I've recently turned the Auto Brightness off and disabled Auto Sync and Background Data. Audible touch tones, phone vibration, haptic feedback and a few others are disabled.

I'll continue to tinker with it and post updates. I like to exhaust all options before jumping to conclusions about it being defective and having to start all over.

My wife is having the same issues...she didn't make it 4 hours this morning with her Epic. Be sure to uncheck automatically sign in on google talk...it is checked my default and a huge battery killer.

Where can I find this option? I notice everytime I unplug the phone from the charger GT is signed in and Sprint Hotspot. Would like to turn both of these off.

The only thing keeping this phone from being truly Epic is battery life so far. No other complaints.

LOL I agree.

Why don't phone companies freaking stop with the technology advancement, get batteries up to today's technology, then keep updating? We really should have had batteries lasting a month by now on a phone like the Epic, but nobody's doing anything about it!
