How Long Will It Take To Set Up Your Phone The Way You Want?

I know I'll probably be screwing around with it all weekend. I figure, all told I'll be screwing with all of this for a total of at least 7-8 hours. I'll be messing around with screens, wallpapers, AOD settings, setting notifications and priorities, setting default apps, camera settings, selecting a nice looking clock/weather widget, deciding between the new One UI and Nova (this is going to be a tough one according to initial glowing reports about the new One UI), smart switch, etc, etc.

Whew, lucky I only have to do this once every few years! This could be a full time job.

I'v done a bunch of factory resets on my last few phones. It usually takes me a couple of hours to get functional. Meaning major data and important apps. Then I just slowly customize over the next few days. I don't get anxious about getting it perfect quickly.

30 minutes maximum. Restoring from Smart Switch, then restoring the secure folder & making a few tweaks for anything that didn't get copied over correctly. I need to have my phone up and running, I can play around later.

Dont think ill be doing a full restore, too many apps weigh down the phone, allway best to start fresh . i'll just do a gmail restore.

Took me about 3 hours last night. Including restoring most apps, and re-pairing my S3 Frontier. By the way, moving from one phone to another with the Frontier was much easier than with my old Moto360. The Samsung Wearable app restored almost all of my watch's settings rather than me doing it manually like I had to with Wear...

With a Snapdragon 855 & 8 GB of RAM, I'm not worried about performance.

I'm already using 3.3 GB of RAM, that means I should go from over half to under half utilization.

Samsung phones usually take me longer to set up for some reason. Probably a couple hours to get most things the way I like, then a couple days to tweak the little stuff. It's been two years since I've used a Samsung phone, so I think that's why I'm expecting a longer set up time.

Wireless transfer from S8 to S10 took about 30 minutes. About 10 apps still needed to be downloaded and everything was moved over. So much easier this time than going from S5 to S8

Same here. I do the usual update and transfer and then the fun begins. I like to go through all the settings to see what is new and try the new features. I don't do it all in one day but over the first week or so...and then I change things up to find my "perfect setup"...which I change frequently to the new "perfect setup".

My phone is like a computer. In fact it is a computer. So what I have on my current phone will be coming over. And then some more stuff as I can make use of that 512gb.

I use Nova Launcher and it lets you back up your set up on the old phone and then you can do a restore on the new phone which saves a bunch of time (I email the back up file to myself and then on the new phone I find that back up in the email and Nova automatically launces and installs it). Installing my apps took longest amount of time. Since then I've tinkered with a few settings to get it dialed in a little bit. Took me a few to find the notification reminder for missed calls/messages/email since the LED reminder is now absent on the S10.
