How many have returned/are thinking of returning?

I finally got my Nexus 6, Cloud White, 64GB a few days ago and after using it for a couple hours I couldn't see myself keeping it. Don't get me wrong the phone is gorgeous, fast and built like a tank. I just like smaller phones that go more easily in the pocket and missed the Moto suite of apps my old OG Moto X had. It was a bit too big for my liking, so I'm going with a 2014 Moto X instead.

I was going to return it back to Motorola for a full refund, but decided to throw it on Ebay instead as I knew Motorola was just going to refurbish it and people can't get these anywhere right now. So I did a 1-day auction and started it at the purchase price of $730.00 which included the tax and it just sold yesterday for $1150.00. I almost fell over when I saw how much more I got for it. So anyone thinking of returning it right now may want to list it on Ebay instead.

That's the unicorn.

Being on Sprint, I already lost out on them not carrying the 2014 Moto X (bummer) and was banking on the Nexus 6 keeping the same size profile as the Nexus 5, but no bueno for me it seems.

You should get another G2, root it, and put 1 rom on it(I'm currently using Liquid Smooth lollipop). It's been rock solid for me (installed 11/25). So I've got 5.2 inch, fast processor, 13 megapixel camera, double tap to wake, notification led and customizable if I want. 95% of the features of this rom work (no NFC, but I don't use that).

I personally am supposed to be getting my Nexus Monday, possibly today. And honestly, after reading through here and XDA, I'm already expecting to return it.

Go back and re-read that statement... I hope you can grasp that it is a little bit absurd. Yes, the forums are filled with people having issues and problems... phones that were DOA and needed to be switched... etc. But if you look in every device forum, it'll be filled with issues. LG G3, Note 4, etc... they are all busy with people that came here to try to fix a problem they are having or a complaint. Wi-Fi or signal issues, screen problems, battery issues, you name it, EVERY device has people posting problems.

Places like AC are basically filled with two types of users... a) the long termers who've been here, have probably owned several different devices and are here to get the latest and greatest info AND maybe help out a fellow user here or there. The second group comes here because they had some problem and sought out a place to get some GOOD info... I'd love to do an enter poll asking new users if they are here just to hang out or if it was because they did a search and Android Central popped up. If I was a betting man, I'd say that the latter category was dominant.

As for the Nexus 6... I've own a fair amount of phones, and played around with several others. This thing is a beast... sure, its not perfect and won't be perfect for everyone, but it hasn't missed a beat. I had a few smidges of buyers remorse since I've got it, but that was mostly due to how good my previous phone was (LG G3) than anything with the Nexus.... but that's natural when changing devices, unless you hate the old one that is.

No way I'd return my Nexus 6. Unfortunately I no longer have use of mine as it met an untimely temporary death due to my 18 month old getting ahold of it and proceeding to drop it on the tile floor in my kitchen. Had only had it 10 days and my Spigen case from Amazon is supposed to be here today. I'd give my [languaged removed by Moderator] to have my Nexus back :/ Guess I'll "rough it" with my Note 4 and 6+ till I'm able to find a replacement screen.

Unfortunately, I have made the same choice.

I think the hardware is outstanding. I think lollipop is a winner too!!.

But the battery life is similar to first generation android devices. Very shocking, and disappointing.

Typically in the morning I wake up and do a 15 to 20 minute surf of news, tech and sports.
On my 6 Plus this drains 1% of my battery, at the most. Typically, 0%.
On my N6, it drains 10 to 12% with screen brightness at 40%
Right now my 6 Plus is at 99% and it's been on for 2hrs.

I've been using smart phones since the Treo, and I would hope that year to year battery life would improve, not get worse.

JOHN

There's no doubt that apple really knows how to manage their resources more efficiently. Always has and probably always will do better in that department then any other phone maker.

I had the nexus for one day before I took it back for a Note 4. The only thing the N6 has going for it is lollipop. The best phablet phones you can get right now on the market is the Note 4 or the Plus 6 imho.

Have had my N6 for two days and really think it is a great phone. Coming from a Note 3, I was already used to a large phone and this one truthfully is not much larger. The only thing I don't like is that it is a bit unwieldy using it in the car with one had. No, not for texting but even skipping a track or using the map. I'm planning on returning it and paying the $50 restocking fee. I'm going to go with the Moto X which is the size I wish the N6 were. That said, really think the N6 is a nice phone and battery life has not been an issue for me in the short time I've had it. I will miss the wireless charging.

OUCH!!!! I thought I was going to be on the news last night with my 11 year old... we were at Six Flags and I asked her to hold my Nexus 6... She tried to "Pretend" to drop it and actually did.. but she kind of threw it and for the second time now it landed case side down and slid across the freaking concrete with only minor scuffing to the Spigen case..... She kind of flipped it to the side and it flew out of her hand at an angle instead of straight down......

Something was twisted up then.... HAS to be based on your numbers. Last time I popped this thing on a charger it was at 35% after 5 1/2 hours of screen time.... mixed usage, nothing too intensive. If 20 minutes of reading news torched 10% of your battery, something whacky was going on.

What do you suggest? I would love a suggestion. As I'd love nothing more than to keep my N6.

FYI....anyone who got their preorders in on 11/5, if you want the extended holiday return window (ie...1/9/2015), call google and inquire. I did, they had my return window ending on the 9th of December. They granted me the extended window since my order was so close to the 11/10.

Hey SteveISU,

I ordered the phone the same day as you and Google refuses to extend the return window to the holiday return date of Jan. 9, 2015.

Call again. Here's the follow up email they send typically after a call in.

"Thank you for contacting Google.

Here is the policy that we discussed earlier. *As your Nexus 6 was purchased so close to the promotion and was actually shipped during the promotion, we would have no problem offering you this special extended return policy.*

Extended holiday returns:

All purchases made from November 10, 2014 - December 25, 2014 may be returned through January 9, 2015.

Thanks,

Niko
The Google Support Team"

Is that two week window from when they shipped the device? Mine was shipped on the 26th and won't come in till Wednesday (Dec 3) due to Thanksgiving weekend. Wouldn't be fair to count that first week as part of my window since I still don't have it.

Wow. Lesson to be learned here. Keep expensive phones out of reach of children. LOL.

Luckily I found another one. Expensive lesson. Thankfully the TMO store in my area still has plenty of stock. Needless to say mine is now snugly entrenched in the Spigen case.

Yeah she is 11 and I just asked her to hold it for a second... She's managed to not destroy her iPhone so I figured 10 seconds with my phone would be okay... She first joked how heavy it was and pretended to drop and then dropped or actually kind of flung it out....

Glad it didn't get damaged... I've never had insurance on a phone before.... but my Android life flashed before my eyes every so briefly....

Having no signal interuption by turing to 3G, and I turned off cloud print, automatic wifi search, and NFC, and I have gotten 18 hours with 35% 5-6 hours of life left. I have surfed, and talked for quite a while and used 10 minutes of google maps. I get 18 hours easy on a charge daily with 35% left. I try to kill the battery but it has outlasted me. I guess that I may need to just watch Netflix to kill it off at night.

Thanks, I will give those a try.

I might need to get square trade. I got the apple care + on my 6+. Never had a claim yet, but I would hate to have a 750 brick of a nexus 6...

I've been a gambler most of my life so I'll just keep gambling... For what I've saved over all these years not paying $5, 6, 10 per month in "Insurance" I've probably more than made up the $750 to shell out for a new device and still be ahead.....

Not that any of that would make it sting any less... but if I keep telling myself maybe I'll at least sleep semi better at night...
