I have a Samsung Galaxy S10+ dual sim exynos ceramic version. It is my daily driver. My secondary phone is now a Pixel 2XL as my husband now has my 4XL.

I love this Samsung very much. The 2XL is in a drawer until I can put Android 11 onto it.

My daily drivers dependant on the time of day...

Google Pixel 2 XL
Huawei P20
Huawei P20 Pro
Motorola Moto G7
LG G8X ThinQ w/DualScreen

No longer in use...

BlackBerry Bold 9700
Lumia L830
Lumia 650
Lumia 950

Keeping my devices much longer yet have enough usable's on-hand to appease my chronic switching addiction LOL. Also cap the amount we spend on any one device as we're finding there's no need to spend lots in an attempt at getting-er-done.

Love your choice in phones - especially the LG G8. I've always had a soft spot for LG.

Thanks... I'm more than happy w/G8X especially considering what I paid in CAD funds for it, support so far has been very meh but I was warned LOL... Camera(s) more than satisfy my needs.

P20 Pro is still my fav for its cameras and funny thing is, none of the present offerings entice me enough to upgrade for that aspect as we're still getting our dose of "great shots" with it... P20 isn't bad either but obviously falls short of Pro in the camera department.

Moto G7 was a surprise as didn't think there was phone out there in the $300+ (CAD) range capable enough yet finding it to be very capable... Not perfect and missing some feature but then again only $300+ bucks.

Pixel 2XL... Well it's a Pixel what more can we say other than it's a great phone in just about every aspect I'm needing for.

I'm having a blast using these older devices barely seeing anything in the last year that I think would make my world any better, poor yes LOL.

I currently have a Google pixel 3a as my main phone and an iPhone 7 for work. Overall I like having both platforms but of course I love android the best. I love the freedom of android and the software of Google.

Having an iPhone on the side comes in handy to shut the stubborn iphone users up lol.

I completely agree with your observations - LG is very capable; the P20 series was awesome and the camera performed very well; and the Pixel 2 line is simply awesome (Mary Poppins' "practically perfect in every way" saying seems to apply well in this case).

I'm curious what the Pixel 4a will bring to the table. I'd like to see 128GB base storage and 4000 mAh battery but rumour says, 64GB base and 3080 mAh. No-go for me if that's the case... Maybe Pixel 5/Xl will be enticement enough but going by their past trends not holding out much hope for that to happen.

Other than price I'm pretty cool w/iPhone's. Not my preferred platform yet has its place for many, like my wife. If Android doesn't pick up their feet on the support front I might be a convert sooner than later LOL.

I can see why entire familles use them. Since iMessage and Face Time are all integrated into the platform, it's just *easier* if you have an iPhone. But my in-laws also use Facebook Messenger for video chatting and so we use that to connect too. In my husband's family, I think it's just him, me, and my brother-in-law who have Androids.

Now that WhatsApp has group video feature, FaceTime and iMessage aren't nearly compelling enough to switch to iOS imo

You're right! I like WhatsApp and have it downloaded. My in-laws use it sometimes.

Only issue is, sometimes people don't want to download those apps if most of the people they talk to have iPhones.

But I do agree with you - apps like WhatsApp and Messenger are certainly becoming more relevant. I've even used Houseparty, which is interesting. I've only used it once though, so I can't really comment on it thoroughly.

I wonder if most people in NA really rely on WhatsApp as much as other parts of the world do

Yeah at work there's been more than one instance where I've been somewhat left out in the cold due to iMessage since the majority there use iPhones LOL. I rely on Messages only as does my kids, their spouses, and my siblings since we all use Droids. Only ever video chatted a handful of times so not something I need. Where I live iPhone's appear to rein king but starting to see more Android devices surfacing.

That's great that your family uses Android phones! That must make communication easier.

My wife doesn't (iPhone) and maybe that's why she keeps telling I don't listen to her enough LOL. Just kidding, we all mostly just rely on basic texting/emails so not an issue whatsoever communicating between us/platforms.

What I use on a regular basis!

Main phone: Galaxy S8 (pretty much all daily use)

Secondary:

Galaxy A6+ (for use during visits to Europe, for receiving SMS and and sending/receiving Viber messages from my Serbian phone number, testing stuff in Android 10 and weaker hardware)

Thermal camera phone:

Hand-me-down Cat S60

Windows Phone for messing around:

Ancient hand-me-down Lumia 535 which I sideloaded Windows 10 on in January

Nope but given that I have family and friends back in Serbia who use it as their main way of texting I have it. One of my friends here in the US got it simply so that he can text me for free when I am not in the US. Whatsapp is literally my main way of chatting with my parents. Only problem is it tends to not be nice to AMOLED screens lol.

What's wrong with WA and AMOLED's ?

There is dark mode now too, but with ugly chat bubble colors and no way to custom schedule it
