I have NASTY burn-in from normal Whatsapp usage...

Wow.

Seems like the only way to get something like that would be to have the WhatsApp screen on for days straight, like leaving the phone to charge and disabling screen timeout.

Nope. Was using my phone just as normal. I know what NOT to do with OLED, lol. Still happened.

What's your typical screen brightness settings?
Full brightness. I also frequently use my phone outdoors where Samsung's high brightness mode automatically turns on. I should NOT have to decrease brightness on a premium gadget. I bought an OLED phone specifically for the screen that looks amazing and vibrant whether I am in sunlight or inside, in any lighting condition. And keeping my brightness low makes me feel weird (low frequency PWM is so annoying at low levels).

Wow, I’ve never seen anything that bad before.
Yup. Less than a year old. Rest of phone works perfectly like it came out of the box. I clock in 3-8 hours SoT per day. When the burn-in initially showed up last fall, I was spending up to 4 hours a day on Whatsapp chatting with family.

4 hours per day? You must be a chatterbox. I don’t talk to my wife 4 hours per day and we live in the same house.

Is it a huge problem? I rarely hear anyone speaking about it. It would be interesting to find out though.
Well that would be the point of such a thread. I saw some tech YouTuber complaining on Twitter about burn-in on a 1 year old LG phone that belonged to his dad. Also, have you seen Gizmoslip's burn-in video where he shows what happened to his friend's Note 8 after 1.5 years? Pretty scary stuff that seems to be a problem with ultra heavy users like me.

Down back to two. Huawei P30 Pro and iPhone XR.

I sold my Samsung Galaxy A50 because I dropped it a few weeks ago. I couldn't live with it. LOL
