How many of you guys restart or turn off your phone?

Great idea. PC's should also be rebooted once per day.

Huh??? I've been a PC tech since the darn things were invented. I never reboot the darn things unless they hang up for some reason.

My desktop here is a Win7 that has not been turned off in months, most likely last summer when I reconfigured it after a power failure (lightning struck the power pole in front of my house) burped it and no UPS power source on it....

Had to reimage it again. That is why you should always keep an image of your computer and your cellphones. If you don't have Kies 3.0, you best get a copy of it and back up your S5 or other Samsung for that matter.

And my S5 has never been rebooted or had the power turned off since I bought it 4/11/2014

I actually pull my battery once a week. I will do a normal restart if something glitchy is going on occasionally.

I just restarted my Tab Pro 8.4 last Tuesday since it lagged so bad but after that it's smooth again. I think I need to restart it every week. Didn't have problems with my previous Nexus 7 though.

I have a spare battery and charger (Samsung) so a restart has to happen when I swap batteries. It seems to do no harm and I've read that a regular restart on any computer system aids optimum system performance.

I just held the Power key until it offered me the options of: Shut Down, Restart. I used Shut Down and then turned it back on. What is the difference between Shut Down and Restart, by the way?

Shut Down powers off the device. To power it back on requires pressing/holding the power button. Restart doesn't power it off, but just reloads the operating system (ex. closes out of the OS and automatically reloads/boots it back up).

I reboot every morning as part of my wakeup routine. Leave it on charger and use it as my alarm clock. The battery will last all day!

I like to let my phone die completely at least once a week... not sure why. If it doesn't drain completely, I'll usually reboot it at least once a week.

I never shut it off so its always on except when I do a reboot/restart each morning when I take it off the charger. Always done this with all my phones for over ten years. Its a daily thing. I've never had any issues, ever, so I shall continue to do what works for me.

I hardly ever turn off my phone. The only time I turn it off is probably when my phone dies. I don't know if that really counts. I'm horrible about closing out my apps and such. Sometimes my phone just shuts off on its own probably because I have too many apps running.

i think rebooting the phone once a week is already excessive, unless your phone is acting loco then reboot the phone by all means.

Sounds like an old habit for Ni-Cad batteries (to limit/prevent their memory effect). :) That's not needed though with Lithium based batteries (no memory effect). In fact, it's recommended to avoid a deep discharge (below 10-15%) as it can be detrimental to the battery and shorten its life.

I only restart after a bunch of apps update at the same time or if I switch around a whole bunch of widgets, because sometimes they forget to refresh.

I think I've restarted my phone 6 or 7 times since March - and that includes when Sprint installs a big update on the phone and does it automatically. It's been "ON" non-stop since I got it. I never completely powered it off.

Letting your phone die every week does more harm than good and don't recommend doing a full drain on the battery as it stress out the battery and shortens the battery life. You should only do this if your battery reading is inaccurate. Like once every three month or so.
