How many people already gave up on Thunderbolt

I really don't see the point of view many are ranting about.

Here's the list (I can think of) that have been official statements from HTC or VZW regarding the TBolt.

1) CES 2011: HTC shows off the TBolt. States it's heading to VZW in Q1 2011; so by end of March.

2) Jan 2011: A limited preview page for the TBolt goes up on VZW. Let's you sign up for future updates. States no date range for release.

3) Feb 2011: VZW updates the preview landing page, and starts ad placement all over the internet.

And that's it! What is VZW doing so wrong here? Keep in mind, YOU are choosing to read websites about future and upcoming phone info, before the carriers are officially unveiling them. Rumors, supposed release dates, etc... it's all info being brought to by someone OTHER than VZW / HTC.

All VZW wants to do is make certain their network & the device are solid and ready to go. Create some buzz with well timed ads, and have the phones start selling like crazy a couple weeks later. Buzz too early gets forgotten and/or slows current phone sales.
While I agree with you, Verizon isn't to blame and everybody is taking this a bit serious. VZW did say how the Thunderbolt may be coming sooner than expected and had that commercial to help spark some hope of an early release. Kind of annoying, but nothing worth of leaving the carrier

I'm not going to ATT, but I am starting to wonder how much carrier support this phone is going to see. Big Red appears too busy fellating Apple to worry about their loyal android followers or even their own amazing LTE network. I am disappointed with how this has been handled so far and it is harshing the buzz over the T-bolt to me.

But how does it appear that they are too busy with Apple? They have to give new customers just as much love as old ones. They released the 4G first so it could be tested on developing phones. And they offered PC cards for 4G in the meantime.

To me I see this whole thing as marketing genius. The phone is called the Thunderbolt...in life who knows how the weather is going to change or when lightening and thunder are going to happen. So maybe that's the marketing they were going for....you never know when it's coming. Weatherman/Best Buy says it's the 14th. Then oh no it's not. That's just how I look at it.

Let's not forget the fact that you could pre-order in in February too, without releasing a launch date.

That was strictly Best Buy. I have yet to see any info from Verizon specifically about any pre-order. I hate to say it because I used to work for Best Buy and I actually activated phones, but I've bought one phone from Best Buy (the LG Dare) and I am not going to buy another phone from Best Buy ever again.

They screwed up really really bad and this was after the "new and improved" Best Buy Mobile.

Really? Should I try to get my deposit back and get it through VZW instead?

If anything goes wrong with my phone after buying it from best buy can I get it serviced through VZW?

Curious to hear more about this story

VZW did no such pre-order.

Best Buy was jumping the gun for whatever reason. Hell, they could start doing pre-orders on the "HTC Incredible S" right now if they wanted to I suppose.

So again, VZW / HTC have done nothing wrong or given any incorrect info to date.

Oh yeah, it wasn't really an issue with the phone. It was basically about the people not knowing what they were doing. I got home from a Best Buy that was an hour away (because the other 5 Best Buy's that were close to me were completely out of the Dare) and I find out that my phone doesn't have my number on it but a different number. So I call Verizon and I'm on the phone for 3 hours trying to get everything fixed. I should have known from the beginning that something was wrong because we were in there for over an hour waiting for them to activate the phone.

It's not really about the phones themselves, it's just that they screwed up so bad that it makes me not want to try my luck again because I have the Talk, Text, and Data, $20 discount and I would rather be in a Verizon store to make sure that it transfers.

Of course they do. They gave rights to Best Buy, they gave the pictures of Tbolt to Best Buy, They gave marketing material to Best Buy, They told Feb 14 to Best Buy, They told Best Buy they are exclusive retailer and can take pre-order.

Bottom line it's Verizon and HTC's fault.

Do we know they told BB that the release was Feb 14th?

Exactly.

It's not what you think you know...it's what you can prove.

I've yet to see anything from VZW or HTC stating anything other than coming soon.

Maybe BB got the bug to jump due to lackluster iPhone sales....

If Verizon did make a big deal about it we would have no clue it would have taken place with the upper management of both companies even the hourly employees would have no idea of what happened. I don't think it would be illegal if they believed it to be true, many products have been push back from their original release dates due to many different factors. Bottom line IMO I don't believe either BB or Verizon has done anything wrong by not giving us a date of release, when their ready we will know. This is just my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.

And you know all this how ? Or is this just more data you're coming up with on your own? Like your other thread and the number of VZW customers that are online in these forums.

"50k is way more then just 1%"

How'd that one turn out for ya ? You never even had a rebuttal.

This is the data that Best Buy had. They wouldn't magically come up with everything on their own.

It doesn't take much to understand this!

This is like listening to prisoners of war despairing of ever being released. The loss of hope, the sorrow, the wild guesses as to what's happening.

I would like for everyone to take a walk today, even just 15 minutes. It will calm you and clear your head. And then I want you to commit to reading the gadget blogs and forums only once every other day until the phone is released instead of 17 times every day.

Also, try to pursue some other short term project in the meantime. Why, let's all make popsicle stick birdhouses. Spring is coming and those little birdies will need someplace to nest. I hereby declare the Great Popsicle Stick Birdhouse Competition Of 2011. Verizon, HTC, Android, and Thunderbolt design themes are prohibited. The winner gets total serenity. Second place, a sense of calm. Third place receives a 50% reduction in technology-related anxiety. All participants gain a sense of perspective.

Go forth, young ones.

This phone is very appealing to a lot of people. Why would a release date being pushed back change your mind? It'll still be a great phone when it comes out. Especially if the rumors about simultaneous voice and data happen.
