How much do you pay for your phones?

Paid $800 for my current pixel 4XL. Tried to purchase a pixel 6 pro... Twice, and Google played around too many times on delivery dates. Then the bugs appeared and I moved On. Still think it's a damn good looking phone; however looks don't make calls.

Therefore, most likely will pay $1350, for an S22U next month. However, I'm 74, retired, living in the middle of nowhere ID and only pay cash for every thing I purchase; so 1350 for a phone isn't much. If I like something and can afford it, why not get it.

Can't take it with me.

REVISING: READ SAMSUNG MIGHT DELAY SHIPPING BY THREE MONTHS. IF TRUE, MOST LIKELY NO SAMSUNG IN MY FUTURE! If I can't get it when I want it, I most likely won't get it. Tried that BS with Google store twice, it failed.

I tend to go through manufacturers or Best Buy here in the states just to ensure my phone is unlocked. that and manufacturers like Samsung usually offer the best trade in values. so does Best Buy... I got my Pixel 6 for 180 with trade in, and my iPhone 13 mini for 200 with trade in.

my husband for his N20U for less than 600 with trade in for the unlocked version at Best Buy. it's all about shopping for the best deals, at least for us it is.

I have been on the hunt recently for an older style flagship Samsung phone as a backup device and certain specific needs. I got an S10+ for 340 from Amazon renewed recently. Unfortunately, it had a crack/chip in the screen, so it went back. I also purchased a 512gb Note 9 for 360. Once again, not really a good purchase lol Dents and dings all over and bad screen burn. I have heard so many good things about Amazon renewed, but yet, my experiences have been awful.

I recently found another Note 9 on Ebay for around 330 as a "new," overstock item. Guess I shall see how that goes. 330 dollars is not a bad price at all though for a flagship level device.

Woot is a good place to check for deals on those: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...ung-phones-sd-6?ref=w_cnt_wp_1&token=6Eczidun

Yeah thanks but no thanks lol

After these previous experiences ordering a device from Amazon, unless it's brand new, I'm not buying any more devices like this.

I got a device from Ebay last week and though it was the brand one as I wanted factory unlocked and they sent me a carrier variant, the device was in perfect condition. Looked brand new. My guess is it was a "new," unused overstock item.

Yeah but how much did those traded in phones cost when new a year prior?

The only requirement I have for a phone is it has to have a 90hz or 120hz screen and running Android. This limits my choices for sure, which is why I am financing my S21 Ultra 256gb through Verizon. The last two times I bought a pixel 4xl through Google and then an iPhone 12 pro from best buy. I used the iPhone for about 4 months before I sold it on Swappa after being bored with it.

I will say, if you want to try iOS, there's not much to lose as you can always sell it and get your money back. They always sell on Swappa for what you owe on it. They definitely hold their value. Some Android phones do as well.

I didn't want to spend $1249 on my S21 Ultra but I am planning on keeping it longer than any other phone I've had. Unless I want to sell it and get a cheaper phone and a tablet. Which is what I'm currently debating over. I'm very tempted by the Tab S7 and the base S22. I play PUBG on my S21 as well as watch a lot of video content on it. As I get older, looking at a screen strains my eyes more. I would like to have a tablet to play games on as well as read more books on it. It's been over 10 years since I've read a physical book. Every time I try to read on my phone, my eyes get more tired and I have to have more breaks.

So, the way I see it, I could easily sell my S21 Ultra and get a higher mid range phone and a tab s7 for the amount I pay per month on this S21 Ultra.
