How protective are the Samsung OEM cases (like the LED case)?

I love the look and features of these cases, but from what I can see online, the tops and bottoms of the phone are almost completely unprotected and there doesn't seem to be any padding anywhere.

Could those of you who are rocking one of those cases comment?

I'm specifically asking about the Samsung wallet type cases. With the other cases (that protect or don't protect) the rear only, things are more obvious to me.

They're good enough for light drops (VERY light) and to protect from scratches, but I wouldn't trust them to fully protect your phone from a big drop.

BUT they look darn good. The clear case, for instance, it's the thinnest you'll find and it almost looks like you have nothing on the phone, but can still place it on a rough surface without scratching the phone itself.

I have the Orchid Grey Clearview case. I work in a warehouse. Mostly my phone stays in a bin in my work cart. Never have been one to keep my phone in my pocket.

The case looks superb. Feels great. And would likely offer some protection in a short fall, since the cover closes magnetically. But I would not get on it.

Bixby works great with cover closed. Answers questions and sets reminders.

One drawback is the mirror finish face practically needs its own protector as mine already has a few micro scratches from who knows where.

And "Clearview" is a misnomer. While yes, you can see through the cover, the text is hazy due to the inside soft facing.

All in all it is a great case with super clean lines to compliment a well cared for device.

I would not go horseback riding or mountain biking with this case.
